Devil May Cry 5 - Tips for Beginners
Tips for Beginners
Turn on Automatic Assist
Easy combos with buttons
Turning on Automatic Assist allows you to perform combos by repeatedly pressing the attack buttons. This is convenient for beginners who do not want to get into the techniques of combos manually just yet. Do note, however, that Automatic Assist does not help you evade enemy attacks. When playing as Nero, Automatic Assist charges the Exceed gauge.
Lowers Style Points
Turning on Automatic Assist lowers your Style Points at the end of each Mission. It is best to turn it off when aiming for high ranks.

Stay mobile during battle
Evading attacks is important for high Stylish Ranks
During battle, try to anticipate the enemy's attacks to dodge them. If you get hit, your Stylish Rank will drop greatly and you won't be able to achieve a high ranking if you constantly take damage.
Use taunt against groups of enemies
Once you get comfortable with the controls, you can incorporate taunts during battle to raise your Stylish Rank. It is best to use taunt against mobs of enemies.

If you find yourself lost, press L3. This will point your camera in the direction of your next objective.
Know the unique abilities and attacks of your character
Nero, Dante, and V have very different abilities and mechanics that you will need to be familiar with to be effective in combat. Nero, for example, relies heavily on performing combos and attacks with his Devil Breakers and Exceed system.
