Devil May Cry 5 Malphas Boss Guide
Malphas Attack Pattern
Malphas has a lot of long range attacks. Additionally, when its HP falls to about 70%, it awakens and performs melee attacks. It will also go into an awakened state when near death.
Wormhole Attack
| Tell | A wormhole will appear in the air. |

| Effect | Attacks with its head and leg. |
| Counter Play | Avoid by rolling. |
Wormhole Attack
| Tell | A wormhole appears. |
|---|---|
| Effect | Continuously attacks with its head and leg from the wormhole before finally coming down. |
| Counter Play | Side rolling and jumping. |
Wormhole movement
| Tell | A wormhole will appear. |
|---|---|
| Effect | Enters the wormholes and warps. |
| Counter Play | None. |
Thorn Attack
| Tell | Thorns appear. |
|---|---|
| Effect | The thorns grow straight toward the target. |
| Counter Play | Avoid by side rolling or jumping and movement. |
Spin Missile
| Tell | Three purple balls appear in the air. |

| Effect | Three thorns fly towards the target. |
| Counter Play | Use side roll or move around the area. |
Rushing Attack
| Tell | Immediately after awakening. |
|---|---|
| Effect | Rushes towards the project. |
| Counter Play | Avoid by rolling. |
Head Butt
| Tell | Awakening |
|---|---|
| Effect | Charges toward the target on the ground as its head points forward. |
| Counter Play | Avoid by rolling. |
Rushed→Jump
| Signal Action | After the rush. |
|---|---|
| Effect | Jumps several times after the rush. |
| Avoidance | Avoid using side roll. |
Self Recovery
| Signal Action | When the remaining HP is about 1/3, the boss' body comes out from the ground and the ground swirls. |

| Effect | Gradually recovers HP. |
| Avoidance | Stops recovery when attacked. |

Attack it from a distance
Create some distance from the boss and attack it with Blue Rose or Punchline.
Opportunity for melee attack after the headbutt
When the boss performs its headbutt attack after awakening, its beak will stick to the ground, allowing you to damage it with melee attacks.
